This is an 8th Grade Common Core Math guided Exploration Lesson on the Pythagorean Theorem.
This lesson includes two guided exploration recording pages and a correlating ActivInspire Flipchart. The students are guided through a series of problems in which they draw the given legs of a right triangle and use graph paper to measure the hypotenuse.
This lesson is designed for the students to use a coordinate graph whiteboard and record the answers on their guided practice page. Included is a graph paper printout that will work with the whiteboards. (This can be done with graph paper)
The Flipchart is created with interactive examples to model for the students with a movable graph paper hypotenuse for each problem.
I have also included a three page blackline master of the same activity in which the students can do the exploration independently without the Flipchart.
