This unit will do WONDERS to keep students focused on a goal and engaged at the end of the year. When testing is over students need to know that they're working toward something, and 8th grade students can be easily motivated in this unit to focus on preparing for their upcoming Algebra experience. This unit has been successfully used in the classroom to prepare students for Algebra and show them that high school math will be a lot of expanding on what they've learned and Algebra can be fun. I also have seen first hand the way this unit keeps students focused on a task, with it's strict guidelines and timetables. Students will take quizzes at the beginning of the period several days each week to help management of the classroom as well as retention.
This unit includes a grid to show a 16 day plan of implementing these lessons, handouts, foldables, quizzes, assessments, games, and warmups.
