Description

Would you like for your students to practice comparing functions given in different representations? This product consists of matching games in which the players will be looking for two functions which have the (1) same rate of change in the first game and (2) same initial value in the second game.

This resource provides a fun way for students to determine the rate of change of a function and the initial value of a function.

Cards will be dealt to the players. Each player will find the rate of change represented by the function on each card in his hand. Two of the cards in the deck have the same rate of change. When a player discovers he has two matching cards (same rate of change) he will put the set on the table. During the game the students will ask other players for cards, and they will also draw cards from a “draw stack.” When all of the sets have been matched, the player with the most sets wins the game.

The same 26 cards are used for a second game in which students will be looking for cards with the same initial value.

The functions are represented as graphs, tables and equations.
