Description

This 8th Grade Math Easter Activity Real Number System Coloring Worksheet will give your students the practice you're looking for while keeping them engaged and motivated. They'll look forward to completing the Easter coloring page after they review relationships between subsets of the number system, approximating irrational numbers, and more!

This activity includes one worksheet with 10 multiple choice problems. Each problem has three answer choices to choose from. This worksheet assesses the following concepts/skills:

  • Venn diagram of the relationships between the subsets (ex: rational VS irrational)
  • Approximating irrational numbers (non-perfect square roots, expressions with pi)
  • Comparing and ordering values
  • Locating irrational numbers on a number line
  • Converting between fractions and decimals (terminating or repeating)

Students complete the color by code activity by using their answers as they identify each linear equation to color one of the included coloring sheets:

  • SPRING: A duck in a rainy setting, with the phrase "Dance in the Rain"

  • EASTER: An Easter Bunny and eggs, with the phrase "Hop To It"

An answer key is included for the worksheet and the coloring sheet.

Know that numbers that are not rational are called irrational. Understand informally that every number has a decimal expansion; for rational numbers show that the decimal expansion repeats eventually, and convert a decimal expansion which repeats eventually into a rational number.
Use rational approximations of irrational numbers to compare the size of irrational numbers, locate them approximately on a number line diagram, and estimate the value of expressions (e.g., π²). For example, by truncating the decimal expansion of √2, show that √2 is between 1 and 2, then between 1.4 and 1.5, and explain how to continue on to get better approximations.
