1. In class we will be reading "Those Three Wishes," By Judith Gorog (in our class textbook). This story incorporates our spelling unit and details the exposition (we are studying). The students will concentrate on the setting (time, place, and beginning conflict of story), as well as the character's three wishes.
2. Assignment--students are to create their own one-two page short story utilizing the same theme--BE CAREFUL FOR WHAT YOU WISH FOR or BE A GOOD PERSON AND GOOD THINGS WILL COME TO YOU. They are to use a minimum of eight spelling words in their "Rough Draft" to be handed in next class period. Underline each term used and use it properly--if the word is a noun, make sure you use it as a noun! POINTS DEDUCTED FOR ALL LATE WORK , UNLESS OTHERWISE DISCUSSED WITH TEACHER PRIOR TO DUE DATE.
***This rough draft needs to be on time. This will combined with the following unit--next week--three pages of a story all together--with the Spelling Unit Two words will be required (minimum of 15 spelling/vocabulary words) to be typed and submitted on myaccess.com and receive no lower than a 4.0 (C-). Editing will be permitted so that students can achieve a passing grade. ALL SPELLING AND VOCABULARY WORDS ARE TO BE UNDERLINED OR HIGHLIGHTED.
