This CCSS 8th grade Geometry standard aligned, 18-slide PPT goes through the difference between similar vs congruent shapes and has students draw both similar and congruent shapes given various starting figures.

This a very introductory lesson to similar and congruent figures - it does NOT go into terminology such as dilation, rotation, flip, etc. It is much more of a visual lesson, although it does introduce to students how to draw/identify similar figures based on side lengths of similar factors.

Has vocabulary, examples, guided practice, and independent practice/class work.

It is NOT a unit; it does NOT have assessments; it is NOT homework.

This is a direct instruction lesson.
