This packet includes 9 different games. These activities would be perfect for morning work, literacy centers, small group guided reading, or fast finisher tubs.

All activities are easy to prep. Just print, laminate if desired, and cut apart.

1. MATCH the LETTER--Using letter manipulatives, your students will match the letters to each picture cards' beginning sound.

2. PUT the CARDS in ABC ORDER--Using the alphabet strip in (both uppercase and lowercase are included) your students will put their picture cards in alphabet order according to their beginning sound. This activity is a good follow-on to "MATCH the LETTER".

3. BEGINNING SOUND TIC-TAC-TOE--You will need to set aside 2 different letters' picture cards for this activity. Mix these cards together. This game can be played with one, or two players. If playing with two players, they can sort the picture cards first and play their letter as they would an X or O, or they can draw picture cards and place them on the TIC-TAC-TOE board with the goal of getting any three letter sounds in a row. A recording sheet is included.

4. SORT the BEGINNING SOUNDS--Choose your target letter mat, or mats, and provide your students with beginning sound pocket chart cards that match the target letter mats. Incorporate the “NOT the sound” mat when you have beginning sound cards that do not match any of the target letter mats you have provided.

5. SORT the ENDING SOUNDS--Same prep. as activity 4, but the mats will be used to target ending sounds.

6. SORT the SOUNDS (BEGINS with a CONSONANT or VOWEL)--Choose a variety of beginning sound pocket chart cards to sort with the Begins with a Consonant/Vowel mats.

7. SORT the SOUNDS (ENDS with a CONSONANT or VOWEL)--Same prep. as activity 6, but the mats will be used to target ending sounds. Possible vowel ending sound card ideas are included in the instructions.

8. SORT the SOUNDS (HARD or SOFT)--Use these mats to sort hard and soft C and G beginning sound picture cards.

9. SORT the SOUNDS (LONG or SHORT)--Use these mats to sort long and short vowel beginning sound picture cards.
