Description
Thank you for taking the time to look at the Spanish Culture curriculum ABIERTO. This curriculum was created to blend CI and TPRS with Traditional Techniques and to help create balance in a multi-teacher department. This curriculum also combines multiple learning techniques to reach all your students and includes days that will keep your kids engaged in learning the language but give you some downtime to meet one-on-one with anyone who needs it.
This purchase will give you lifetime access to everything you need to teach about culture to Spanish learners and it includes songs, bellringers, games, powerpoints, slideshows, and printables, . You will also get free additions and updates.
I created this curriculum as a means to teach my students why learning a second language is a good idea, why people want to immigrate to the United States (no matter which country they are coming from), and to keep them busy. This curriculum is a lot of hands on activities and is fast paced. I have added in a few simple Spanish concepts to teach but it's not necessary. I have all the videos I've used on my website for easy access: https://sites.google.com/view/cyber-profe/curriculum/culture
History behind the creation: I taught a 9-week Exploring Spanish class for several years and most of those kids went on to take Spanish 1. One year, my admin surprised me by telling me I was going to teach a brand new Exploring Spanish 2 class because they didn't have anywhere else to put the kids. Some of them had Exploring Spanish 1 the year before, some of them didn't. Some of them wanted to go on to take Spanish, but most of them didn't, and, in fact, were very unsympathetic towards undocumented citizens. I had 32 boys and 4 girls in that class.
