OBJECTIVE: All students will be able to solve multi-step linear equations in one variable which result in infinite or no solutions. Students will also be able to determine the number of solutions by simple inspection.

LESSON NOTES:

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Students should know how to solve multi-step linear equations in one variable, evaluate expressions with square roots, evaluate absolute value expressions, verify solutions using substitution, and using square roots to isolate a base.

STANDARDS DRIVEN: Students are primarily expected to solve absolute value equations, simple quadratic equations and verify solution sets.. This lesson follows a lesson on solving multi-step linear equations with extraneous solutions and will precede a lesson on solving two-step linear inequalities in one variable.

MATERIALS NOTES:
