This project accompanies Jonathan Safran Foer's novel, "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close." Since students 'these days' were so young in 2001, it is difficult for them to conjure up the emotional response to the event that we adults had/have. This multi-day project asks students to identify and interview someone who was an adult on the day of the attacks, who might be able to offer an interesting story or perspective on it (or just an everyday one). Ultimately, they use the interview to create their own persona performance of their subject, creating a powerful classwide piece of oral history.
Please use these documents in accompaniment with the "Preparing to Interview" Powerpoint also included in this category, which outlines students' first step to the project.
