This is a lesson I have put together to pay tribute to the victims and fallen heroes of 9/11. In it are actual photographs that I took when I went inside the 9/11 Museum in New York, where I spent 3 hours in an emotional place where we will never forget. You will also an informational video at the beginning (click the bottom left globe).
At the end of the slides, small group discussion questions, a journal writing entry, and a list of possible small projects are given. This lesson can be used as introduction, or even a thematic unit on history, compassion, resilience, and being good citizens.
Positives of having Smartboard slides for your lessons:
- better flow
- more organization
- more student engagement
- creates routines for students
- videos are embedded
- when a student is absent, you can simply print the slides for them
- when there is a substitute teacher, you can simply print the slides and they can put it under the document camera or they can easily access it through your laptop
- you can use it over and over every year!
