In addition to the sheer fun of the activity, the real magic in Origami lies in its ability to help students in a multitude of ways. Students quickly learn the importance of following directions and maintaining focus. While developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial reasoning and problem solving skills, students interactively gain experience with math skills incuding fractions, symmetry, and geometry. Unfolding the finished model will reveal a pattern of creases offering more complex concepts for discussion. The expression of math and science concepts though art, can bring tangible experience to, very often, elusive theories.
With this tool set you can create Origami paper templates that are always ready to go when needed. Included are twelve shapes, each with 8 overall ratio sizes from 1” to 8”, for a total of 96 templates. Template shapes include a circle, isosceles triangle, equilateral triangle, 2:1 ratio rectangle, 2:3 ratio rectangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, hexagon, nonagon and decagon. Simply print out the shape of choice, cut, temporarily affix to your heavy cardstock or quilters plastic, trace and cut out your permanent heavy weight template.
