Have your students practice their handwriting skills with these MLK themed handwriting sheets.
Have your students practice their handwriting skills with these themed handwriting sheets. I incorporated Kindergarten sight words that I use for my own students to make these practice sheets. These are simple sentences that students can decode. I used sight words, and simple cvc (consonant, vowel, consonant) type words that can be easily sounded out to create the majority of the sentences. Every now and then I have thrown in a harder word that your student may need help decoding. For the most part, I try to keep the sentences as simple as possible. I wrote each sentence in the top right hand box of every page so that students can easily read it before trying to write it. I also added an arrow going from left to right under each handwriting sentence so that students can see the direction that their handwriting should go. I know how precious our time is as teachers, so I’m incorporating handwriting, sight words, cvc words, and sentence reading all in one activity.
I have used Martin Luther King, Jr., reference to his son(s), reference to his daughter, Rosa Parks, President Kennedy (JKF), Ruby Bridges, buses, the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C., Alabama, doves, peace symbols, President Obama (Barack Obama), and children in this set.
Please download the free preview to see 10 of the 50 sight words (the download will not have the black lines). The next 40 pages are very similar...they just use different sight words.
