Product Description
This worksheet is a 6 x 6 grid with the notes treble A or treble B within each box. Each box contains a treble clef, a staff, and one music note that is either A (second space) or B (third line). The student's goal is to color all the boxes containing "A" with one color and all the boxes containing "B" with a second color. If correctly done, they will have colored every box. A line is provided for student's name and class or homeroom. There are four variations of the worksheet to help prevent copying or cheating. Each variation is labeled with a "Sheet Code" to facilitate correcting. Answer keys are provided for all four versions of the worksheet. A teacher information sheet is provided at the end. This activity works well with a recorder curriculum.

The purposes of this worksheet are:
•To help students discriminate between Treble A and Treble B
•To get students using the clef and the note head to identify pitches on the staff
•To help students realize that pitch is not affected by factors such as rhythm, duration, shape of note, type of note, and stem direction
•To allow students to experience many different incarnations of the two pitches
•To allow enough repetition to guarantee retention

A few lessons after doing this worksheet, have your students complete "A, B, And Then Some! (Treble Clef Discriminating A and B)" to see if they can still find A and B when they are mixed in with all the other notes of the treble staff!
