I made these cards to help my Kindergarten students practice comparing numbers.
Print out a set each of bats and birds. (If using the black and white pages… print out each set and copy the bat on purple paper and the birds on blue paper. Laminate for durability.)
In a small group setting, students will choose one purple bat number strip, and one blue bird number strip. Students will match numbers one to one with Wicky Sticks. They will circle the extra bats or birds with a Wicky Stick to show how many more are in the larger number which is the same as how many fewer there are in the smaller number. For example, 10 is 3 more than 7….7 is 3 fewer than 10.
1. Bats and Birds Number Prints
2. Wicky Sticks or Bendaroos (sticky, bendable sticks)
CC.K.4 Understand the relationship between numbers of quantities; connect counting to cardinality
CC.K.6 Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, by using matching and counting strategies.
Please download preview file before purchasing as it has the entire unit (minus the black lines).
