This is an anticipation guide for use with the critically acclaimed, award-winning film A Better Life. I use it within my immigration unit for high school senior English class, but it could be used in humanities, social studies, etc., as well.
I also have a complete film study guide and discussion question set available on TPT that I use after the anticipation guide along with the film.
Anticipation guides activate prior knowledge, prepare the students for the themes, and encourage discussion and debate. I have the kids mark down their answers on numbered plain paper, then move to side A (agree) and side D (disagree) of the room afterwards and we discuss/debate from there. I use agree/disagree anticipation guides with every new unit and they are my kids' favorite activities.
