What do apples have to do with parts of speech? Well….nothing, but they help keep the interest levels of your students! Whatever it takes! You will need an apple for each child for this week’s interactive literacy activities focusing on the parts of speech: adverbs, adjectives, verbs and proper and common nouns. I leave the actual eating of the apple to the end.
I designed this with 3rd grade in mind but it can be used successfully with 2nd graders and as review activities for 4th and 5th grades.
We used apples as the multi-sensory source for our thinking of descriptive words, vivid verbs and synonyms for all of the parts of speech.
