“A Christmas Memory” is a beautiful holiday movie about love, friendship, the joy of giving, and growing up. The movie is based on the short story by the same title written by Truman Capote. Buddy is a seven year-old boy who lives with his four elderly distant cousins. Buddy is especially close to Sook who is simple-minded and child-like. They play together, bake fruit cakes, adventure into the woods for a Christmas tree, but eventually have to separate when Buddy is sent to a military academy.
The movie is 91 minutes long.

I’ve created a movie guide consisting of mini-graphic-organizers that assure students are engaged in the movie without causing distraction by having to write long answers on a worksheet.
The first page lists the characters and provides some general information about the story.
There are 5 pages of graphic organizers
Following are 9 discussion questions addressing characterization, imagery, symbolism, and several synthesis questions encouraging students to offer opinions and relate elements of the story to their own lives.
I use a clear font and have included basic graphics.
