Your kids will love scaring up some good language with these activities. This themed activity will help your students get ready for Halloween by focusing on their language skills and learning holiday vocabulary words.

Basic Concepts ( 2 pages ) Follow the directions on each page. Read the concept word on the items and place in it in the correct position in relation to the object on the page.
Describing. Use the describing web on page 5 to gather ideas and describing components for a witch. On page 6, combine the ideas from page 5 into a paragraph description.
Following Directions. There are 4 cauldrons and 4 sets of spooky ingredients for students. Give each student a cauldron and set ingredients. Students must place the ingredients on the cauldron in the correct order and manner that you instruct.
Vocabulary. There are 8 vocabulary words. Students must match the definition to the word.
Synonyms. There are 8 synonym pairs. Place all cards face up on a table. Students must match synonym pairs. The cards are self checking, matching pairs will have the same picture. After students have matched the synonym pairs, they can read the included story and fill in the blanks with the synonym for the words in parenthesis.
Antonyms. There are 8 antonym pairs. Place all cards face up on a table. Students must match antonym pairs. The cards are self checking, matching pairs will have the same picture. After students have matched the antonym pairs, they can read the included story and fill in the blanks with the antonym for the words in parenthesis.
Categories. Read the category on the cauldron and the list of words on the right. On the cauldron, draw only the words that belong in that category.
