This short, 30 minute movie is great for a quick, no-prep Thanksgiving activity. . Challenge your students to think critically about the meaning of Thanksgiving, and learn a life lesson in communicating clearly from the misunderstanding between Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty. This can also make a great substitute no-prep lesson since it is unrated and certainly appropriate for all audiences. Discuss with your students 7 high-level, short answer and essay questions by pausing at the designated times on the movie guide.
Note: This film can be found on some streaming video sites as of November 2017. Simply search the title and you can find a full length version of the film.
An answer key is not included as many questions are open-ended and encourage students to analyze the film. Many answers will not fit into a 'box'. Students are encouraged to construct their own meaning from the characters' dialogue and behavior.
This product includes:
A student movie guide, PDF print version (2 pages)
A student movie guide, PDF digital fillable form version (2 pages)
This digital version is intended for a paperless classroom if your students each have a tablet/iPad. Here is a method that worked for me:
1. Ask students to download a PDF editor app if they don't already have one. It needs to have a save function as well. I used Foxit PDF.
2. Host the file. I used google drive to share a folder with the students.
3. Ask students to save the file in a designated google drive folder using a naming convention. (I use LastnameFirstnameMovieGuide.pdf)
