The Holiday Season is one of the most exciting times of the school year! Holiday activities that continue to teach curricula are an excellent way to keep students engaged in the days leading up to the long winter break.
This Guided Reading Packet is complete with before, during and after reading activities for the classic holiday story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Activities include building background knowledge, making connections, comprehension check questions for each Stave of the novel, visual interpretations, adjective review, compare/contrast, setting and mood, allusion, suspense, flashback, making inferences, drawing conclusions, theme and reflection questions.
As a bonus, a highly visual powerpoint (ppt) presentation is included to help teach students the background of London in the 1800s and the events that inspired Charles Dickens to write the story. An excellent study of literature, aligned with Common Core, that will help maintain rigor and the students' interest in the few weeks leading to the winter break.
JUST ADDED: Answer key as well as lecture notes for the power point introduction.
