These grammar worksheets, designed to go along with reading Charles Dickens' classic novel A Christmas Carol
, will introduce students to the concept of subject and predicate - the building blocks of complete sentences. (It's a "Christmas Carol"-themed version of my Subject and Predicate Sentence Writing Fun Worksheet
Page one contains a brief section of cloze notes explaining the topic, as well as 10 sentences for practice identifying subjects and predicates and eight fill-in-the-blank sentences for students to complete by adding the missing subject or predicate.
Page two is the fun part: students creatively match Christmas Carol subjects and predicates to write silly sentences. My kids always have fun with this quick, user-friendly grammar activity, especially when they get to share their goofy sentences! (They always come away with a solid understanding of subject and predicate, too!)
Whether you're reading the full novel or an abridged version, the familiar Christmas Carol characters and motifs will make your sentence lesson more engaging and fun.
