Product Description
A Close Reading of a Sept 24 1951 Magazine Article CIVIL RIGHTS Strength or Weakness from Quick Magazine - a pocket sized news weekly.

A medium length introduction and 19 scaffolded questions.
Included is a cartoon on Japan trade relations opposite an outline of taxes and defense spending. As well as an advertisement for a very minor movie I use these for context.

Warning: the Cartoon on Japan is very racist.

A series of open discussion question follow.
An answer sheet is included.
Also included in the package are high quality scans (600bpi) of the pages themselves.

Really high interest, but, written with a clear grade 7 vocabulary.

I find the written answers take about 1 hour and the discussion part as long as you give it.

Personally I like this for Black History month and wrote it for Asian Heritage month.
