Thank you so much for checking this book out. Let me give you a quick bit of background behind why I created this book and its activities. During my social skills sessions I noticed that my students were able to distinguish a mad face from happy face or choose which event was unexpected, but they had difficulty when it came to explaining and identify feelings within themselves. It was challenging for them to explain what ‘ mad ’ or ‘ jealous ‘ was.
While reviewing figurative language, I noticed they were able to match feelings to color figurative language phrases such as ‘He is feeling blue’. They were also able to explain those feelings and give accurate examples using the color phrases. So, I decided to combine familiar colors with emotions to help my students begin to understand common feelings. It also happened that several students needed to work on answering questions and following directions as well. So, ‘A Colorful You’ was created.
Please keep in mind this is something I created out of need. It is not researched based or a social curriculum. I hope you enjoy the book and activities.
