PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This 89 page Thanksgiving/autumn themed packet was developed to work on a variety of language skills including comprehension and expression of nouns, verbs, pronouns, object functions, associations, and categories, sentence formulation, listening, oral expression, following directions, story comprehension, story sequencing, and story retelling. This packet includes an open ended game which can be used to reinforce any language or speech skill being targeted. Also included are copy friendly homework sheets.

Contents:

Pages 6-7: Nouns - There are 16 noun cards you can use to work on comprehension and expression of vocabulary associated with autumn and Thanksgiving.

Pages 8-9: Verbs - There are 12 verb cards that can be used to work on comprehension and expression of verbs.

Pages 10-11: Pronouns - There are 12 pronoun cards that can be used to work on comprehension and expression of pronouns: he, she, they, him, her, and them.

Pages 12-26: Functions - There are 30 sets of pumpkin function cards you can use to work on comprehension and expression of object function. Glue the pictured object to the back of the pumpkin card. Turn the pumpkin cards face down to create a “pumpkin patch”.

Page 27: Blank Pumpkin Cards - Use these blank cards to create additional object function cards. You can also use these cards to create question cards, articulation cards, etc.

Page 28: Wagon Mat - Students use the wagon mat to hold their pumpkins.

Pages 29-33: Associations (for younger students) - There are 20 sets of acorn association cards. Use these cards to work on identifying items that go together.

Page 34: Blank Acorn Cards - Use these blank cards to create additional association cards or cards to target other language or speech skills.

Pages 35-36: Associations (for older students) - There are 20 acorn cards that can be used to target expression of associations. The number printed on the acorn is the number of associated items the student should name.

Page 37: “Oh, Nuts!” and “Go, Nuts!” Cards - Use these cards with the acorn association cards for older students.

Page 38: Squirrel Mat - Use the squirrel mat with the acorn association cards.

Pages 39-40: - Copy friendly homework sheets for associations.

Pages 41-48: Category Mats (for younger students) - There are 8 turkey mats that can be used with the category feather cards to work on comprehension of categories.

Pages 49-64: - Category Cards (for younger students) - There are 40 category feather cards (20 with the word and picture and 20 with the word only) that can be used to sort items into 2 to 8 categories.

Pages 65-66: Blank turkey mat and feather cards - Use these cards to create additional category cards or cards to work on other language or speech targets.

Pages 67-68: Black and white turkey mat and feather cards.

Pages 69-70: Category Cards (for older students) - There are 20 category cards (10 for naming items in a given category and 10 for naming the category to which the given items belong) that can be used to target expression of categories with older students.

Page 71: “Gobble, Gobble!” and “Ruffled Feathers” Cards - Use these cards with the category cards for older students.

Page 72: Basket Mat - Use the basket mat to “hold” the ears of corn.

Page 73: Ears of Corn - Use the ears of corn with the category cards for older students.

Page 74: Turkey Mats (for older students)- Use the turkey mats with the category cards for older students.

Page 75-76: Homework Sheets - Copy friendly homework sheets for categories.

Page 77: Tree of Thanks - Ask the students to tell you or write down things they are thankful for on the leaves (on page 74) and then glue them to the tree. This activity targets answering questions and oral or written expression.

Page 78: Leaves - Use these leaves with the “Tree of Thanks”.

Page 79: Picture Cue Cards - These cards can be used with the “Tree of Thanks” to cue the students. You could also use this page as an AAC board for nonverbal students or students will low verbal skills.

Page 80: “Paul Pilgrim” Story and Sentence Completion - This short story can be used to work on a student’s listening skills.

Page 81: “Paul Pilgrim” Story Comprehension Questions - To work on listening skills, read each question to the student after you have read the story aloud. The student should provide a verbal response. Write the student’s response in the space provided.

Page 82: “Paul Pilgrim” Sentence Formulation - To work on listening skills, verbally present the word pair and ask the student to use both words in a sentence. Record the student’s response in the space provided.

Page 83: “Paul Pilgrim” Story Sequencing - To work on listening and sequencing skills, read the story aloud and ask the student to number the items in the order they appeared in the story.

Page 84: “Paul Pilgrim” Story Retelling - To work on listening and verbal expression, read the story aloud and then ask the student to retell it. You can record the student’s response in the space provided.

Page 85-86 : “Paul Pilgrim” Following Directions - To work on listening skills, read the direction aloud to the student.

Page 87-89: “Roll A Cornucopia” - This game can be used with the cards in this packet or to reinforce any language or speech skill being targeted.
