Description

Interactive Notebooks make the learning fun, and they make it stick. Kids love cutting, folding, gluing, and embellishing. While they are doing all of that, they are thinking about their responses, making the learning experience much richer. Interactive Notebooks make great study guides and wonderful keepsakes of the learning that occurs each day in our classrooms.

This novel study is meant to be included in any Interactive Notebook that you have already been using with your students. It can be used as a read-aloud, as I have used it, or with a literature circle, book club, or guided reading group. The resource contains a teacher page for each reading section with CCSS references, a synopsis of the plot in that section, discussion questions, and a description of the notebook activity. Student pages contain a space to brainstorm some responses to the discussion topic or questions before discussion begins, as well as a page to cut, respond, and fold or glue into their notebooks. I have kept the pages as simple as possible to help you save on ink.

A Crooked Kind of Perfect is one of my all-time favorite read-alouds and an excellent choice for an upper elementary unit on character study. This resource addresses CC Standards in Reading Literature 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 for grades 4-6.
