Product Description
A Differentiated -OO Vowel Team Game- Cook Up Some Food! by Learning Moore in First is a great way to practice phonics and fluency skills with your small groups.

Two sets of cards are included, the brown cards are the on/ below level cards. The black cards are the above/ advanced level cards.

This game works just like “Go Fish”, so deal each player 5 cards and put the rest in the center of the playing surface to make the “fish pond”. Or you could put them in a mixing bowl– to fit the theme of the game!
Players take turns asking each other for -oo vowel team words they have in their hand in order to make a match. If they make a match they lay it in front of them. You could make the game more challenging by having students use the word in a sentence before they can lay it down.
If a player asks another player for a word and that player doesn’t have it, they should tell the initial player to “Cook Up Some Food” (or Go Fish).
Play ends when all matches are made.
The winner is the player with the most matches.

Extensions: You can have players sort the cards based on their -oo sound, either the words have the -oo as in “book” sound or they have the -oo as in “moon” sound. You could also use the cards for fast fluency practice– time students to see how quickly they can read through the stack of cards, then see if they can beat their time.

Enjoy,
