Summary of the play by Henrik Ibsen in "Fill in the Blanks" format. When they have completed this task, students will have an excellent knowledge of events in the play, and a useful revision resource which they have created themselves.
This resource could be used as scaffolding for weaker students. It could also be used for assessment, or for revision. I generally use this after reading before students are asked to attempt more challenging activities. Most students enjoy doing this - there's an easily earned sense of achievement. It's a lot less difficult than writing their own scene summaries.
To make the play slightly more manageable, I have divided each act into three sections. There is a word bank at the end of each section to assist students. You could easily remove the word banks to make the activity more challenging. This is a Word document, so you can edit to suit your class.
There are 6 pages for students to complete. The 5 page solution is also included (11 pages in total).
Download the preview file to see the cloze test for the first part of Act 1. Even if you don't purchase my product, this will give you a nice introductory activity with which to start your study of the play.
NOTE. There are slight variations between translations of the play into English. I have included a table of differences in words used etc.. in the two versions that I used. This is also included in the preview file.
