This is an emergent reader with simple text for early readers. I use this emergent reader with my kindergarten readers, but it could be used in pre-k to have the students practice identifying sight words and tracking print. It could also be used in first grade for struggling readers.
This emergent reader is about the life cycle of a frog from egg to adult frog in simple terms that even pre-k students can understand. It works well with pond life or animal life units. It features these sight words: in, a, there, are, some, out, of, come, to, they, and, it, like, has.
These books print 2 per page to save on ink and paper. We read these books together and they color them. When my students are finished reading and coloring this emergent reader they put it in their book baskets as another text they can read during Read to Self and Read to Someone during our Daily 5 rotations.
