PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This book mark presents the short version of my Writing to Respond approach--an approach for developing a culture of writing in classrooms and schools. Writing that supports new Common Core expectations.

Students read text ( informational or literary)
They IDENTIFY key publication information ( to avoid plagiarism)
They SUMMARIZE what they read in a brief paragraph (cite)
Then they REACT to what they read by utilizing questions to guide their response. Questions can be analysis, synthesis or evaluation.
Teachers can download Bloom's question stems to guide questioning.
Teachers begin the process by modeling and then allowing students to utilize the process at least once weekly.
My book Writing to Respond to Text and Tests provides step by step guide, teacher models, student samples, rubrics, and exercises to facilitate the process.
The student and educator wheels also provide much guidance.
