Have you ever gotten frustrated hearing students say things like "we don't do anything", "we never learn anything". Or your own children saying "nothing" when you ask them what they learned today? This is called an aha journal and I gave it to my students and on days when there are a few minutes at the beginning or end of class, they were to write two things that made them go aha during the class. At the end of the quarter or semester they were turned in for grades. It was fun to read and the students enjoyed re reading them.
