Always looking for ways to incorporate personal narrative writing into your curriculum and lessons? This resource is a great way to do just that by having students write about a particular story that they experienced during some holiday they celebrate. Could be used around the holidays as even a therapeutic practice, or the way I use it is after reading "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote. After reading this famous short story, I have students analyze the author's choices by look at the imagery throughout. This then serves as springboard for how I want students to make their narratives come to life. This worksheet is a pre-writing sheet that helps them begin to organize ideas into all the parts of a strong personal narrative piece along with what they already know about elements of plot. Great way to incorporate literature along with writing as a way to end a unit. It also appreciates each student no matter what holiday he or she chooses to write about and helps teachers to learn more about the students in his/her classroom.
