Students are able to practice writing and making complete sentences with this A House for Your Hermit Crab writing art. Students can make complete sentences by filling in the blanks for their writing. Students color a hermit crab and a hermit create a shell by decorating their shell to make it their own. Students love creating their own shell for their hermit crab after reading A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle. This activity includes a direction poster (color and b&w), writing to fill in the blank, hermit crab cut-out and a shell (2 options). My students actually used a small paper plate for their hermit crab's shell since we had a huge supply of small paper plates. This is perfect for a language arts center activity.
