Are you looking for a way to combine listening practice with important ELA skills? This activity allows students to work on their listening skills while also learning about the importance of modifying predictions. Help students see that they should be modifying their predictions as they read based on text evidence.
Included are 6 short stories with premade predictions. Students listen to the stories and modify the predictions at certain stopping points. This helps emphasize that students should be changing their predictions as they read based on text evidence. Once when students get in the hang out modifying premade predictions, they can transfer this idea to their own predictions. I have found that this has helped my students make more predictions and lose the fear of making a predictions that doesn't turn out to be right.
