This is a full novel study for Richard Peck's "A Long Way From Chicago." Easy to follow and NO PREP!! I used it at the end of the year to review reading concepts--super helpful for my class! You will receive a smart notebook file to guide discussion in a whole class or small group setting. Each chapter will take at least 40 minutes to complete, thus you receive at least 2 weeks of lesson plans!! This is a huge SMART file (60 slides in all). My students used their interactive notebooks to take notes and record answers, but you can also do this on loose paper or create booklets for students if you are not a composition book user.
By following this study, students practice a variety of reading skills including predictions, point of view, characterization, figurative language, theme, quoting, imagery, compare/contrast, making connections, inferences, summarizing, poetry, and vocabulary.
In addition, this novel touches on many Social Studies themes! The characters experience The Roaring '20s, The Great Depression, WWII, and discuss famous Americans. This novel is the perfect review!!
