Product Description
This is a Study Guide or Study Review with questions and vocabulary for Chapter 1 of "A Long Way Gone," written by Ishmael Beah. It is only for Chapter 1. It includes text based questions, inferential questions, and evaluative questions with page numbers and an answer key. When I am teaching I like to continuously remind students how to properly cite or give credit to get my students in the habit of doing it, trying to have it come naturally. I ask students to site answers to simple questions and more complex questions, as well as providing analysis of their evidence.

The vocabulary section includes fill in the blank sentences from the book, matching definitions, and synonyms and antonyms. I think it is important to teach students how to look at words and compare and make connections to words they already know and understand, in order to build their vocabularies and learn information opposed to memorizing it for a test. By looking at words in more than one way, students are able to form a better understanding of the words.

An answer key is included with sample answers.
