This informational narrative writing project will take 2-3 days of instruction. One the first day (or over 2 days), students will read the book, "If You Lived at the Time of Martin Luthr King Jr.". As they read this informational non-fiction story, they will take notes on the note-taking sheet. The next day, students will create several fact-based questions that they will ask MLK that will be embedded within their own informational narrative. They then plan their creative story using the beginning, middle, and end graphic organizer. Finally, students will write their creative informational narrative that's based around the idea of meeting the ghost of MLK. During the chance encounter, students need to creatively incorporate the questions that they've developed.
*Several mini-lessons on using quotation marks will be helpful on a daily basis during this reading and writing lesson.
