I love incorporating STEM and STEAM activities in my classroom. I will continue to incorporate that style of teaching in my class. However, I also want to make sure that my students are getting specific science standards instruction while having my students explore through the arts.
This is a small group activity where each student will create his or her own work of art as they experiment pushing and pulling the objects. You can display their science recording sheets and their Motion Of Objects Artwork in class. You can also glue the recording sheet and the artwork into a science notebook. I live in Florida, so I am using the Florida State Standards. I am not labeling the standard with my state coding…instead, I’m simply stating the standard (which should be rather generic for First Grade classrooms) on the recording sheet. This makes it easy for administrators and parents to see the merit of our work.
Science Standard: Demonstrate and describe the various ways that objects can move, such as in a straight line, zigzag, back-and-forth, fast, and slow.
Please view the mini windows so see the entire download. The additional sheets are exactly the same...they are simply either in color or black and white....or they are a half or a whole sheet. There is a prediction page, a recording page, an evaluation page, a word wall page, and a blank Motion Of Objects page for your student's science art.
