If you aren't familiar with this book, you should give it a quick read. It compares two Thanksgiving dinners, one very proper and the other chaotic. I will be the first to admit, mine has a lot of similarities to the chaotic one. Anyway, in this unit your students will be sorting details of the two feasts, interviewing classmates to create a tally chart & a bar graph, have an opportunity to make sense of their data, working with rhyming words, trying to become a "Word Turkey" with a game, writing a response to literature and creating "Hand Turkeys". Your kids are sure to have a blast with these activities while learning standards in the Common Core. Give it a try!
