Do your students want to give up when things get to hard or confusing? I created this story for teachers to use at the beginning of the year to hep motivate their students to be persistent. There is a hands-on activity that students will do with toothpicks from your classroom while you are reading the story. They will be able to create their own stars.
Please view the mini windows to get a good idea of what this unit contains: the story in color, the story in black and white, a poster for your water fountain, photos of toothpick arrangements. and photographs of the Grand Canyon. You will need to provide toothpicks (5 per student) and eye droppers (or pipettes).

I hope that you enjoy my story about persistence, and that your students learn to be persistent whenever they come across something difficult!
