Students create unique characters for fictional narratives on their own, but sometimes, especially at the high school level, they need a bit of a jump start! Using a famous piece of artwork, students analyze the potential experiences of characters from multiple view points. Students then choose one character's perspective and create an original, fictional narrative to explain the painting. Use as a jump start for personal narrative writing or creative writing. Can be adapted beyond one class period into a larger creative project. Great for practicing and reviewing elements of narrative writing at the start of a unit too!
