This is a 30 minute comedy drama in one act for 6 players - 3 girls and 3 boys or 2 girls and 4 boys. It is a light-hearted farce with a 'beauty without cruelty' theme.
Synopsis: French exchange student Pierre arrives at his new school with his host students, Kim and Matt. Kim is the finalist in a beauty pageant and has fallen under the influence of her wickedly ambitious science teacher, Mrs De Villiers who has developed a line of cosmetics which she claims to have formulated herself. In the mix is the nerdy Laurel who is dismayed at the sudden decline in the health of the dearest of the laboratory mice in her care. The children become embroiled in an investigation into industrial espionage led by the less than competent P.I. Mr Smith. A series of misunderstandings involving whirlwind incarcerations in the dark fastness of the laboratory store room unravel until in the end order is restored - almost.
This funny play will be ideal to hone the skills of young drama students interested in developing their talents at portraying comic roles. Comic timing is key to the successful production of this play as well as a feel for the creation of larger than life characters and the exploitation of media stereotypes and parody in characterization. It offers a lot of fun, some thought-provoking themes and room for the development of young budding actors.
