Rubrics are often suggested to help students understand the teacher's expectations for an assignment. I found however that many rubrics are not so much helpful as they are confusing and ambiguous. This rubric gives specific examples of what students should do to help them construct a well written blog post. You can easily mark up the rubric to help refer students to skills they are excelling at and those they need to work on.
Ideas on how to use Rubric
1.) Simply print out, explain and start using!
2.) Delete the ideas in the column for "How the student shows this" and have students help fill this in.
3.) Create a concept sort of the ideas in the column for "How the students show this" and have students guess which idea goes where.
4.) Laminate rubrics to use over and over again. Mark these up with post-it notes and whiteboard markers.
5.) E-mail copies of the rubric to your students. Digitally highlight and include comments to help students understand your assessment of the entry.
