Inspired by the Dr. Seuss book, "Horton Hatches the Egg", this resource is a great way to celebrate Read Across America week and Dr. Seuss's birthday. Using a space travel theme, this is one of twelve stations I created using Dr. Seuss books and varying science concepts. Read the book to your students (not provided) and then extend the activities with this fun language arts rhyme and accompanying lab station that explores the concept of buoyancy. Afterward, your students can write about what makes some objects buoyant even though they are very large, while other small objects are not buoyant. Your students will be able to incorporate language arts fun and STEM in one great activity!
