Here is everything you need for a rigorous vocabulary study to accompany the play "A Raisin in the Sun."
Included is a blank vocabulary list for students to fill in as they complete the unit, PowerPoint slides to introduce each vocabulary word, vocabulary drills to practice the words throughout the unit, and a quiz. A complete list of definitions is included, as well as an answer key for the quiz.
Slides present the word in the context used in the play as well as in an additional sentence along with a picture. Students must infer the definition given these clues before being provided with a concise definition to copy on their vocab sheets. This puts the onus on the students to do the thinking before simply copying down a definition from the board, while still providing them with a valid definition to study from.
I usually include 1-3 slides in my daily PowerPoint, covering whichever vocabulary words will be included in that day's reading, along with a drill covering the words introduced the previous day.
