This strategy helped to take my school from a D to an A! It works!
*****Please leave feedback on how it works for you********
Prepare your students to take the standardized reading test. It bothers teachers to teach to the test. I say don’t do that, but our evaluations depend upon us teaching students how their reading will be tested on a standardized test. I have developed this strategy and as a reading coach have worked with my teachers and their students to implement it successfully with struggling readers in the very diverse Title I Schools that I work with.
If your reading scores need a boost and you are trying to figure out what to do, you are welcome to give this a try. What do you have to lose?
The "Paid Version" has more components and will help you to implement the strategy without spending so much time searching and putting materials together yourself.
What you get in the "Paid" version that you don't get in the "Free" version: The Planning Questions (some will help with testing strategy so you'll be glad you have these), Links to my favorite sample tests, The Teach How It's Tested Chart B Rountine, basic types of graphic organizers and links if you need them, Student Passage Progress Chart, Teacher Observables Checklist, Student Training Rubric, Individual Student Conferencing Form with Conferencing Points, Scaffolding Strategies for Those Who Struggle, Second Semester Routine, extra hints to help you implement more expertly (you wanta to this to work well now don't you?)....
I am a reading coach and trainer with 10 years experience. If you are interested in further training, information, or "cleaned up" passages developed with graphic organizers or more specific questions in a more scripted format I can do that for you too. You are welcome to email me via TPT for more information.
