PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This ready-to-use, 26 page packet is designed for teachers to use with students in grades 3-6 as they read Lost and Found, by Andrew Clements. Included is a 16 page student booklet that divides the text into four reading assignments with 4 pages of questions and tasks to go with each one. Provided also is an answer key. In addition, there is the master for a bookmark for students to use to keep track of vocabulary words while reading the book and using the student booklet.
The questions and tasks in the student booklet reinforce many skills that good readers and writers need. These include comprehension, expanding vocabulary, summarizing, predicting, evaluating titles, connecting to the text, questioning, evaluating mood, visualizing, character identification, and recognizing similes and metaphors. Students are given practice in writing to explain their thinking and to demonstrate their understanding. The student booklet is designed for independent work so that students can work on this in class while the teacher is meeting with another group. However, it could also be used for homework or as a guide to a parent or aide who is supervising a book club.

This packet is created mostly in black and white to keep costs for copying at a minimum as so many school districts have limited funds.
