Spelling Battleship is a game that can be used to practice spelling weekly word lists before a test. It can also be one of those games that you can pull out of your drawer in a moment's notice for a substitute teacher or for a holiday activity such as Thanksgiving which has many word associations. This game can be played by pairing students up and/or playing on the Smart Board (since this is a Power Point document). Spelling Battleship also incorporates graphing in math.
In order to save trees, a copy for each student can be laminated so that it can be reused. Students would then use dry erase markers to write their words and to keep track of their opponent's answers. The markings would be easily erased with a damp paper towel, then a dry one. Students love this game!
