Description

This self-care diary has been designed specifically for use in the sign language interpreting profession.  This material can benefit interpreters, teachers in interpreter training programs, students, and any associates in the profession. This material can also be used to help earn CEUs as an Independent Study or as a PINRA.  Included in this plan are worksheets to help you document your experiences over the course of 30 days.  At the end of the publication is a copy of hand-drawn artwork that you may print for your personal use!

This publication includes a real-life experience of one interpreter.  Included also are worksheets to create a personal self-care diary for up to 30 days. If you would like to use your diary for CEUs, please contact an approved RID sponsor before beginning. The sponsor can provide a PINRA form or an Independent Study form for you to use.  Please provide your sponsor with your proof of purchase of this product before beginning.  This plan is designed to earn 2.0 CEUs.  CEUs can be determined from the time spent in the reading/research and writing/documentation areas.  A ratio can be used such as 2:1 for reading/research and 3:1 for writing/documentation. If you spend at least one hour daily for reading/research and 30 minutes daily for writing/documentation, you can earn 2.0 CEUs in about one month.  When you complete the plan, please provide your sponsor with your Time Documentation form and your Notarized Statement of Completion form.  Both forms are included in the publication.

The learning objective of this activity is to have a self-care assessment of one's own behavior and how this directly affects one's cognitive functions, language skills, and interpreting skills.  Self-care has generally been categorized for General Studies CEUs. Each sponsor would decide how to process the CEUs depending on the topic and objective of the activity. A response from RID dated June 17, 2020 mentions, "Generally speaking, self-care is not really something that fits into the Professional Studies content area, but if the learning objectives for the activity fit into the topics that are considered Professional Studies, then it's possible. Again, the sponsor would be the one responsible for evaluating this."

The learning objective of this activity is to have a self-care assessment of one's own behavior and how this directly affects one's cognitive functions, language skills, and interpreting skills.  This assessment allows an interpreter to do professional research and document the references regarding  how their own human behavior directly affects cognitive functions, language and interpreting.

I am pleased to inform you that as of June 23, 2020, the following RID sponsor has agreed to process this activity for 2.0 Professional Studies CEUs as a PINRA:  Signs of Development, LLC.  The contact information for this sponsor is as follows:  ceus@signs-of-development.org  and  http://signs-of-development.org/sponsorship/273-pinra.html
