When I taught the novel A Single Shard, by Linda Sue Park, I used this Webquest as an anticipatory set. Students enjoyed searching for the information and identifying with the author (by watching the YouTube video).
Some key concepts for this assignment are: SETTING, CONTEXT CLUES, COMPARING AND CONTRASTING, and WRITING COMPLETE SENTENCES.
TIP: In getting students to the proper websites, I linked the URLs on my Teacher Webpage/Class Wiki. That way, students didn't mistype the URL address in their browsers. It's very easy to do, and it saves a lot of time!
NOTE: You can purchase this as an individual assignment, or you can buy my "A Single Shard Mini-Unit," which also includes a Vocabulary Presenation, at a DISCOUNTED PRICE!
